Uncommon Concerts & Conversations

Come for the concert and stay for the conversation. This summer, Uncommon Grounds Cafe in Aliquippa partners with The Genesis Collective to welcome our region for an eclectic, electric lineup of performers. We will kick off with a blues workshop for kids led by Billy the Kid and the Regulators, and then you’ll want to stay for their concert. After that, we welcome a neo-soul/pop fusion in Joy + Peace with award-winning artist Joy Ike. We take a turn into jazz with the Yoko Suzuki Trio, and then talk about community, blackness, classical music and the way these tie together with oboist Anthony Anfull and his collaborators. We will end our series with the stunning voices of chamber choir Voces Solis. These artists will stay to talk about their work with you, the public. Come ready with your questions, and come ready to eat before the performances, because there will be a food truck party on Franklin Avenue!

BEING BLACK IN BEAVER COUNTY ART INVITATIONAL

Beaver County’s Black creatives answered the call to submit their work to the art invitational! Prizes were awarded for the artist’s reflection on the theme of what it means to be Black in Beaver County, as well as their display of clarity, sincerity, and individuality.

OUR MISSION

The Genesis Collective exists to support artists and their work, increase the public’s access to art and creativity, and entrench art in and around community development in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

We are a diverse group of artists, activists, academics, and organizers who each bring their unique background, experiences, and passions to the work of the collective.

Our values of diversity, inclusivity, and imagination drive us toward goals that level the playing field for underserved and underrepresented creatives so that we all have a say in the design and flourishing of our communities and our region’s creative economy.
